Armstrong Chemtec fabricates finned equipment from carbon steel, low alloy steels, stainless steels, and high nickel alloys. Fins are welded directly to the tube or pipe to maximize heat transfer, and fin heights and densities are tailored to your process needs.
Fins increase the heat transfer between two thermally mismatched fluids. Finned equipment, therefore, is most effective when a high viscosity, typically thermally insulating, fluid is heated by steam. High Reynolds flows of tempered water and thermal oils are less effective, but also viable.
Floor Mounted Tank Heaters
Armstrong Chemtec floor mounted tank heaters maintain tank temperature or heat up the contents of the tank over an extended period of time. The most frequently used designs are welded helical finned (WHF) hairpins or multi-WHF pipe and header assemblies.
Armstrong Chemtec line heaters maintain or reduce the viscosity of pumped fluids for downstream use. The shell and tube configuration with longitudinal fins (LFT) is installed in line with the process piping.
Stab-In Tank Heaters
Armstrong Chemtec stab-in tank heaters maintain tank temperature or heat up the contents of the tank over an extended period of time. The heaters are inserted through and anchored to the tank wall, additional internal support is sometimes also required. The multiple available stab-in tank heater geometries utilize welded helical fins (WHF).
Armstrong Chemtec suction heaters reduce the viscosity of stored fluids for downstream pumping. The open-ended heater has a U-tube bundle with longitudinal fins (LFT) and is installed through the side wall of the tank.
