Company Background
Since our founding in 1948, Armstrong Engineering Associates, Inc.
has been a leader in the field of heat transfer equipment. Armstrong,
and its wholly owned subsidiaries Chemtec B.V. in Beith, Scotland and Chemtec Pte. Ltd. in
Singapore offer our proprietary heat exchangers for several specific process applications.
Through our own in-house research and membership in several research organizations,
Armstrong has become expert in the following specialty areas of
heat transfer:
- Vaporization
- Crystallization
- Electric process heating
- Heating of viscous fluids using finned tube exchangers
We take great pride in the equipment that we provide to our clients. Since 1948,
we have maintained client satisfaction and safety as our top priorities. Our design
engineers are the most experienced and knowledgeable in the fields in which we specialize.
They have worked on thousands of projects within our areas of expertise. As a
result, we can help you determine what equipment is best suited for your application.
Our designs are based on sound engineering concepts from data generated in-house, as
well as from test results which have been verified in operating plants. There are
substantial differences between even what may seem to be very similar chemical processes.
What may work well for one would inappropriate for another. It is not
sufficient to have a good unit mechanically; it must also fit the process and work well
with the duty it is given. The only way to learn these factors is through
experience. That means experience with pilot plants, with process design, with
start-ups of new processes, and with an extensive range of clients, equipment, and
processes. Working with our clients ensures smooth start-ups, satisfactory
operation, and quality product. No other company in the world is more knowledgeable
in our specific areas of expertise than we are.
In addition to our over 50 years of experience, we are long standing members of
organizations such as: Heat Transfer Research, Inc.
(HTRI), and Heat Transfer and Fluid
Flow Services (HTFS) which augment our technology. These groups all
do sponsored research on large scale equipment for their members, who represent the major
process, engineering, and fabricating firms of the world. The results of the
testing are made available to members, and thereby supplement our own know-how. Armstrong/Chemtec
also maintains membership in the (US) Chlorine Institute
and in Eurochlor.

Singapore Office & Manufacturing Facility |
Armstrong Engineering Associates and its wholly owned
subsidiaries, Chemtec B.V. in Beith, Scotland and Chemtec
Pte. Ltd. in Singapore have extensive design and fabrication facilities.
Process, thermal, and mechanical design are carried out for all three manufacturing
facilities at our main office in West Chester, Pennsylvania. All of our products are
fabricated at each of our three factories.
Not only does Armstrong/Chemtec have extensive world-wide
fabricating facilities but, as importantly, we have experienced design and manufacturing
personnel, who are committed to designing and building the finest equipment and providing
unmatched after sales service. Most of our employees have been with us for many
years and regard their positions as a craft which has been passed down from generation to
generation.

Manufacturing Facility |
Engineering and design are carried out using the most sophisticated and efficient
techniques available. From preliminary to detailed design, computers are used to
optimize and provide the most robust and efficient equipment configuration possible.
We make use of advanced computational techniques such as finite element analysis in the
areas of thermal, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical design. These same
computational techniques assure our clients of the best solution for their challenging
process problems and guarantee that all important process parameters are met. The
goal of every employee, from design to manufacturing personnel, is to provide a zero
defect product. Quality control is not just a buzz word around Armstrong/Chemtec,
but an integral part of our complete design and manufacturing process.

office and shop |
From the inspection of incoming raw materials to the delivery of finished equipment,
quality assurance checks are made at every stage of the manufacturing process. We
are ISO 9002 approved in Scotland; however, the quality control procedures in all our
shops far exceed the criteria for approval. No equipment leaves our location until
it has been tested and approved to function at the highest standards of excellence.
Our equipment is manufactured to most international codes such as ASME, BS5500, AD Merkblaetter, CODAP, Stoomwezen, Ispesl,
Swedish Pressure Vessel Code, Australian DLI, and others. All three of our
manufacturing locations are authorized to apply the ASME "U" stamp to vessels
made in that facility and are registered with the National
Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors. Each of our shops is capable of
working in a wide range of materials such as carbon and low temperature carbon steels, low
alloy steels, nickel steel alloys, stainless steels, Inconels, Incoloys, and
Hastelloys. Other similar alloys are available for specific process demands.
